What is Weld Neck Flange
Weld neck flange is a kind of flange that can relocate stress to the pipes, ensuring a decrease in high-stress concentration at the bottom of the flange. Class 150 weld neck flange comprises of a round fitting that extends beyond the rim of the circumference. These flanges, typically manufactured from forging, are actually welded to pipes.
When installing slip weld neck flanges, they must be properly secured with welding. This can be done using either an automatic welding machine or by hand with an oxy-acetylene torch.
Weld neck flanges are applied where the conditions are severe and critical. Some of the conditions include high pressure, wide fluctuations in temperature and pressure, high temperature, fluids that are volatile and hazardous, and temperatures in the sub-zero range.
