What is ASTM A105 Socket Weld Coupling
Socket welding (SW) is usually used for welding pipes and fittings including couplings, elbows, tees and so on. ASTM A105 Socket weld couplings are used to permanently join pipes that are inserted into a recess in the fitting, flange or valve. Once correctly inserted, fillet type sealing welds are applied to join the pipe to the fitting.
The standard for the forged steel fittings SW coupling is ASME B16.11, including socket weld and threaded type. Material including carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel.
